I bought this wifi key to access the Internet on one of my PC (Windows 10), since I could not connect the Ethernet cable, and frankly, I’m surprised! I just had to connect the code, enter the wifi security code and a few seconds later, I had access to the internet. This computer only serves me for the drawings, so I’m not going to use the network much, but to test the key for a few hours, I can say that it is perfectly on the road and does a good job. I can watch videos on YouTube without worrying and search with the same ease as with an Ethernet cable. By cons, I do not recommend wifi to watch Twitch videos. It can also be a matter of speed, but I prefer to report it: it is impossible for me to see Twitch without rest every 5 seconds, even in low quality (I am in the process of Orange) while I arrive (Not without difficulty, do not mess with) Ethernet.
I have a Mac OS X installation, a bit … exotic (OSx86). The WiFi card of my laptop is not natively compatible with High Sierra, so I turned to this small adapter to simplify my life (otherwise, I need to change the PCI-802.11 Mini-Card and update a BIOS that accepts the card, the computer simply refuses to boot with network cards of a model other than those authorized by the manufacturer). Installation is very easy, install the pkg file provided in the mini CD-ROM and restart the system. The dongle automatically appears in “System / network preferences”. An icon in the Mac OS toolbar allows you to choose the WiFi network to connect to. Nothing easier!
In most cases, the Windows drivers found here are “self-extracting” (.exe) files. Click on the desired file. When prompted, set the destination on your desk. Create a new folder and move the file to it. Click on the file to automatically extract the software and the associated files in your new folder. You can also extract or move these files to a floppy disk. Note that these files will only be self-extracting if they are run from Windows. After extracting the files to a disk or special directory, locate the installer, usually called “setup.exe” or “install.exe”, and then click on it to start the installation.
Sometimes, there is no installer because you have to install your driver through the Windows “Add a device” function. You can find instructions for installing printers in the Windows Help file. Our Mac OSX files are also self-extracting. These files must be downloaded and executed in the same way. The installer will be present on the desktop once completed: click on it and follow the instructions to install it.
