I would like to assign 4.5 stars to this product, but it would not be fair to give it a full star for a very slight difference between its indicated 600 MB / s and the 433 MB / s indicated on the product packaging. . I know that on the Amazon page it says “up,” but I do not like these types of discrepancies. The actual speeds indicated in the package are 433/150 MB / s (depending on whether you use 5.8 GHz or 2.4.) They are still much more than you probably need, but they should probably change Page to reflect what the product says. Leaving aside this small problem, the adapter itself is excellent. I was able to connect it to my Windows 10 PC and have it recognized immediately. It comes with drivers if you have problems or if your machine does not see it. The latest routers will all be compatible with the CA protocol for wireless networks. And to take advantage of these speeds, you need one of these adapters (unless you’re connected to the Internet by cable, it does not matter). With many Internet service providers offering faster speeds, there are limits to what wireless networks can handle with the older B / G / N wireless protocols. However, most computers, even recently, were still sold with N-type adapters (and even with many laptops). So, if you are not an expert in technology, you probably ask yourself: “What does this mean for me as a user?” Well, I’ll tell you!
For example, suppose you upgraded your Internet service to 50 Mb / s. Now, they say that you can transmit on more than 3 machines at once. Cool! Well, go to your favorite speed test site on your PC, laptop or tablet and understand: “Hey, I only have 35 MB / s! What the hell?!?!” Well, it’s not your ISP trying to get you screwed up. This is your wireless adapter (and perhaps your router if your ISP has not provided it for a long time). It is possible that most people do not notice it, but the fact is that you are inactive and can not even take advantage of the faster speed of your devices. In AC comes the wireless. Combine it with an AC router, and you will not have problems getting those 50 + Mb / s. And this model does it for you at a reasonable price. I received a discount in exchange for the revision of this adapter, but given its competitive price, I would recommend it anyway.
In most cases, the Windows drivers found here are “self-extracting” (.exe) files. Click on the desired file. When prompted, set the destination on your desk. Create a new folder and move the file to it. Click on the file to automatically extract the software and the associated files in your new folder. You can also extract or move these files to a floppy disk. Note that these files will only be self-extracting if they are run from Windows. After extracting the files to a disk or special directory, locate the installer, usually called “setup.exe” or “install.exe”, and then click on it to start the installation.
Sometimes, there is no installer because you have to install your driver through the Windows “Add a device” function. You can find instructions for installing printers in the Windows Help file. Our Mac OSX files are also self-extracting. These files must be downloaded and executed in the same way. The installer will be present on the desktop once completed: click on it and follow the instructions to install it.
