Easy installation I obtained a dual band router from an Internet provider and wanted to see if this adapter would increase / stabilize my Wi-Fi signal to a remote computer from the router. I am not 100% sure if this has been achieved, but it sure is not worse. You will know more with time. This is a total experience for me for my own reasons, but the product works as advertised. My desktop is up and is usually connected via Ethernet directly to my Wi-Fi router at the bottom. I connected the mini USB wireless adapter to a USB v2 port on my computer and disconnected the ethernet cable. The adapter worked immediately with Windows 10.
I tested the download speeds and discovered that the 5 GHz channel is excellent and reaches speeds close to 100 Mbps in my 150 Mbps cable service. The results obtained with the 2.4 channel GHz have been disappointing at less than 10 Mbps. I installed the software on the supplied mini-CD, then rebooted and tested the download speeds again. The 2.4 GHz channel is still disappointing. But that is not a problem for me. A 5 GHz band is always much faster than a 2 GHz band. If your router only offers a 2.4 GHz channel, you may be disappointed. The 5 GHz channel works very well.

In most cases, the Windows drivers found here are “self-extracting” (.exe) files. Click on the desired file. When prompted, set the destination on your desk. Create a new folder and move the file to it. Click on the file to automatically extract the software and the associated files in your new folder. You can also extract or move these files to a floppy disk. Note that these files will only be self-extracting if they are run from Windows. After extracting the files to a disk or special directory, locate the installer, usually called “setup.exe” or “install.exe”, and then click on it to start the installation.
Sometimes, there is no installer because you have to install your driver through the Windows “Add a device” function. You can find instructions for installing drivers in the Windows Help file. Our Mac OSX files are also self-extracting. These files must be downloaded and executed in the same way. The installer will be present on the desktop once completed: click on it and follow the instructions to install it.
