This is a replacement for a netgear USB dual band WiFi adapter that I used to connect my laptop to the 5 GHz band, which was not compatible with the internal network adapter. After researching the value and connection speeds, I bought this Techkey adapter and came to this page to download th driver. In Windows 10 Home and I am already connected to the Internet through the internal network, I was able to update the driver in the device manager and my connection speed tripled! The download speed has increased from 3-4 Mbps to 12-13 Mbps. So far everything is going well! I will review this 5 star rating if something changes.

This WiFi adapter was very easy to install. I was building a complete computer and connected it when installing Windows 10. As soon as I was asked to connect to a network to start Windows updates, the device was recognized. Once everything was set up, I was not satisfied when I did a speed test on the Internet and only downloaded 40 MB / s when I paid for high-speed Internet through AT&T fiber. That said, when I installed the actual device driver provided in the package as a mini disk, then I ran the speed test one more time and saw the download at 700 MB / s. I am very impressed with this product and I recommend it to anyone who wants to make their desktop a wireless beast. I have a 2013 laptop. It was the last performance update to make it a screamer. Before the product, downloads and shipments were less than 10, and sometimes the test didn’t even work, even when it was standing next to the router. Now I receive 100 downloads and shipments throughout the house. After this purchase, I am thinking of getting one for my desk. I really recommend it. I had three other wireless adapters that would last maybe 6 months at a time due to the durability and the blocking of the PC. It took less than 5 minutes to configure the TechKey key. I am more than sure that having the additional port that holds the dual band antenna in place will ensure durability and longevity. In addition to all this, I get the best wireless speeds I’ve had.

In most cases, the Windows drivers found here are “self-extracting” (.exe) files. Click on the desired file. When prompted, set the destination on your desk. Create a new folder and move the file to it. Click on the file to automatically extract the software and the associated files in your new folder. You can also extract or move these files to a floppy disk. Note that these files will only be self-extracting if they are run from Windows. After extracting the files to a disk or special directory, locate the installer, usually called “setup.exe” or “install.exe”, and then click on it to start the installation.
Sometimes, there is no installer because you have to install your driver through the Windows “Add a device” function. You can find instructions for installing drivers in the Windows Help file. Our Mac OSX files are also self-extracting. These files must be downloaded and executed in the same way. The installer will be present on the desktop once completed: click on it and follow the instructions to install it.
