The Chiclet keyboard has been integrated directly into the upper part of the base unit. The individual keys are adjusted so that they do not click when writing. There is no dedicated numerical block, which is not necessarily a disadvantage, because the keys are quite large (17 x 17 mm) with a space of about 2 mm (~ 0.1 inches) them. The keyboard seems to be well thought out and the letters are easy to read, even the symbols on the smaller F keys do not make them clutter. The writing is slightly softer compared to other convertibles and the keyboard noise is well controlled and is not invasive. The keyboard does not bend at all when writing. The subtle white backlight, which offers two levels of adjustment in addition to the extinction, is particularly pleasing. The multi-touch ClickPad with a chrome frame is integrated into the base unit and measures 10.5 x 7 cm, which is large enough for entries without problems. The touch panel is below the center point of the space bar and moves slightly to the left. Yoga 3 14, on the other hand, has the touchpad centered. Which design is the best is a matter of taste. Visually, the Yoga 710 seems much cleaner: there is a small line at the bottom of the touch panel that separates the left and the right. The clicks are clearly audible, but they do not sound “cheap”. The smooth silver surface allows the fingers to slide easily and the fingerprints are not as visible as those seen in the past with other devices.
During our time with the laptop, we have not encountered any problem with the performance of the touch screen. The screen admits 10-point inputs and allows the fingers to slide easily. All entries were directly recognized and translated immediately. The bevel is very narrow and makes good use of the available surface. The Intel Core i5-6200U processor is fast enough for a convertible. Thanks to Hyperthreading, the frugal bi-core unit can process 4 threads in parallel and has a TDP of only 15 watts. Thanks to its low power consumption, the processor is a good choice for mobile devices that often have to operate outside the point of sale. The basic clock speed is 2.3 GHz; the Turbo can only overclock a core at 2.8 GHz and both at 2.7 GHz. Performance is comparable to other laptops with Skylake generation processors. Only the Lenovo Yoga 3 14, equipped with the predecessor Intel Core i5-5200U, can not offer the same performance as the Intel Core i5-6200U and is approximately 10% slower depending on the application. Meanwhile, yoga with the Intel Core i7-6500U processor is about 10% faster than the revision convertible. It is up to the user to decide if the additional cost for the i7 model is worth it.
