Wireless options can be wider than your cable add-ons. The standard WLAN is powered by the Intel Centrino 62055 (2×2) processor with built-in WiDi functionality and supports Bluetooth 4.0, while the WWAN and GPS modules are provided by the Ericsson H5321gw mobile broadband module. AT & T users can more or less simply insert their SIM cards for 3G connectivity while on the move, although users of other operators send them a message “contact your network provider” from ThinkVantage Software. Sprint users may also be out of luck because there does not seem to be any integrated support for WiMAX broadband.

In addition to the AC adapter and the USB to RJ-45 key, the X1 Carbon does not include any other ready-to-use accessories. It would have been nice to see a case or a protective bag, especially in this price range when other manufacturers such as HP and Asus have them as standard in their respective Envy and Zenbook ranges. Otherwise, users have the large number of usual optional accessories, including carrying cases and external units. Of particular interest is the lack of a dedicated host port, which could be a disruptive factor for frequent ThinkPad users. Fortunately, Lenovo offers USB 3.0 docking stations to mitigate losses and an optional USB 3.0 DVI / VGA adapter for easy digital-to-analog monitor connectivity. Despite this, the secondary battery options are bypassed for the X1 Carbon. The one-year basic warranty applies to all ThinkPad purchases in the Lenovo online store. Users can add protection against accidental damage and replacement of parts for up to five consecutive years of coverage. The synthetic performance tests show exactly what we expected. The i7-3667U is essentially the Sandy Bridge dual-core model of early 2011, the i7-2620M, at benchmarks ranging from single-core Super Pi calculations to multi-core Cinebench representations. The processor is doing worse than the i7-2640M, although it is not big enough to justify the additional power demands and the clock speed of the Sandy Bridge processor. The fact that the Ivy Bridge core can reach these numbers at half the nominal TDP and at lower overall clock speeds than the standard second-generation Core i7 processors is a success in itself. It goes without saying that daily tasks and large workloads are carried out smoothly in the X1 Carbon, equipped with the i7 technology.
