The different E130 Edge models differ in terms of processor (from Pentium to Core i5), hard drive capacity, hard disk model (with and without SSD cache) and operating system (Windows 7 and / or Windows 8). , FreeDos). As mentioned, models with a UMTS module are also available. The cheapest member of this range is currently sold at just under 350 euros (~ $ 454). The buyer here gets a Pentium 997, 4GB of working memory and a 320GB hard drive. The Edge E330 (13.3 inches) and the Edge E530 (15.6 inches) are larger alternatives to the Edge E130. Both devices scored, as well as the Edge E130. This also applies to Edge E335 and Edge E535 counterparts based on AMD technology. Our test device is powered by the Intel Core i3-3227U dual-core processor. The CPU is a member of the Ivy Bridge generation and has a speed of 1.9 GHz. It has no turbo. It is a ULV processor. The processor operates at low voltage, resulting in low power consumption. Intel specifies a TDP of 17 watts. The E130 performed Cinebench tests at maximum speed (1.9 GHz). It is not surprising that you win all the CPU tests, since the ThinkPad Edge has the most powerful processor. The difference compared to the VivoBook is greater than the smaller difference in the clock frequency (1.9 to 1.8 GHz). The reason is that the VivoBook (Core i3-3217U, HD 4000 graphics) tends to strangle itself. The TravelMate scores (Core i3-2377M, HD Graphics 3000) are lagging behind both competitors. The ThinkPad also clearly wins the GL tests. Despite its most powerful GPU, the VivoBook stays behind the TravelMate in the Cinebench R11.5 GL test. Again, strangulation is the reason. The system works quickly and without problems. However, sometimes it takes too long before the system responds with a mouse click, for example, to start the software installation. We assume that the reason is related to the installation of Windows, so the software is installed in addition. We exclude the hard drive because it offers good access rates. The scores on the two PCMark benchmarks were good. The results of TravelMate (Core i3-2377M, HD Graphics 3000) and VivoBook (Core i3-3217U, HD Graphics 4000) are lagging behind. These scores could be optimized by installing a second working memory module, since it would work in dual channel mode and the processor and graphics processor would be used more efficiently. We tried this and we were able to improve PCMark 7’s score by approximately 7% to 2653 points and almost 9% to 5344 points in PCMark Vantage.
