Our test device is equipped with a 14-inch IPS screen manufactured by Chi Mei. The screen has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a pixel density of 157 dpi. This is the only screen that HP offers for the device based on its data sheet. Our test device reached a maximum average brightness of 375 cd / m² when measured with X-Rite i1Pro 2 and a value of 408 cd / m² in the center of the screen. The screen of our test device is just as bright when running with battery or network. This average maximum brightness value is considerably higher than our comparison devices, which will facilitate the use of x360 440 G1 in ambient light. It is interesting to note that the screen should only reach 220 cd / m² according to the HP data sheet.

Our test device has a 87% uniform brightness screen, which is a bit worse than all our comparison devices. It is likely that this difference in uniformity is not noticeable in daily use, although we did not notice any particularly bright or dark areas on the screen of our test device during the test. It should be noted that our test device uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to control the brightness of the screen at a brightness of 50% or less. This value should be high enough not to disturb even PWM-sensitive people, but we can not guarantee it. The screen of our test device allows a lot of light to filter through the screen. As our image shows, this is worse from left to right, but virtually all edges and all corners are affected. As each screen is unique, your experiences will vary, but keep in mind when buying the x360 440 G1. In general, our test device has a good quality screen despite the excessive bleeding of the backlight. HP has calibrated the factory screen very well. Our test device produced impressive color differences between the Delta E 2000 and the target sRGB color space. Then, we reduced these differences by recalibrating the screen and included the associated ICC profile if you want to use it. Our test device has an accuracy of 98% sRGB and 62% AdobeRGB, which is much higher than many other more expensive devices. These values are so impressive that we recommend the x360 440 G1 for semi-professional image editing. The highly reflective screen of the x360 440 G1 makes it difficult to use the camera outdoors despite having a good brightness. We recommend that you avoid using the unit in direct sunlight to minimize reflections. However, our test device becomes bright enough to be used in a shady place on a sunny day. Our test device has good viewing angles thanks to its IPS screen. We found that the backlight bled with other test devices, but this did not affect daily usability. In the same way, the bleeding of the backlight is only noticeable when looking directly at the device and does not affect readability at higher angles.
