Like other people who bought this product, I bought it specifically to use Kali Linux in monitor mode. Unlike most, it seems that I have it to connect and activate it in monitor mode. However, the connection that was just made in my virtual machine is very inconsistent and often requires several attempts. Also, it is inconsistent when you try to use it in Kali. I do not know if this is just a user error, and it is possible to run this adapter without problems, but it seems that many have the same usability problem. However, it is an amazing adapter only for normal wifi, so if these are your intentions, 5/5 stars.

If you plan on using it in Kali or something, it’s fine (until now) if you’re ready to connect and handle the inconsistent connection to configure it for your virtual machine. The reason why it would be acceptable is that it is much cheaper than the alternatives of famous brands that are 3-4 times the price. On the other hand, I bought 2 of them for Raspberry Pis as a second wireless interface to be able to configure a vpn travel router for hotels. It works fine once I have a driver that I can compile on the raspberry pi. These work very well on Linux, even on the Pi, but you must be willing and have enough knowledge to get a unit, compile and install.

In most cases, the Windows drivers found here are “self-extracting” (.exe) files. Click on the desired file. When prompted, set the destination on your desk. Create a new folder and move the file to it. Click on the file to automatically extract the software and the associated files in your new folder. You can also extract or move these files to a floppy disk. Note that these files will only be self-extracting if they are run from Windows. After extracting the files to a disk or special directory, locate the installer, usually called “setup.exe” or “install.exe”, and then click on it to start the installation.
Sometimes, there is no installer because you have to install your driver through the Windows “Add a device” function. You can find instructions for installing drivers in the Windows Help file. Our Mac OSX files are also self-extracting. These files must be downloaded and executed in the same way. The installer will be present on the desktop once completed: click on it and follow the instructions to install it.
