The card is not recognized by hardware through Windows PnP (Windows 10 64bit), it took several attempts to make it work with the driver on the disk. The map range is low, at a distance of 10 meters through a wall, the map fluctuates between 1 and 2 signal bars, while my phone maintains a 4-bar signal. Also, it does not connect so easily to DHCP, it takes time to rent an IP address and, when it disconnects, it takes a long time to reconnect. The Bluetooth is fine, but it is also impressive: I have a USB mini Bluetooth adapter that goes further. The Windows Bluetooth configuration menu also does not interact directly with it, you must install the software on the disk. In short: the map and the descriptions are more impressive than they really are. It is better that you choose a brand, yes, they are more expensive, but they give you reliability.
On the other hand, I installed this on a Linux Mint computer and it worked immediately without needing the driver’s disk. I had no problem with Bluetooth support added and it connected to my speakers without any problem. I expected a better wifi signal with both antennas, but it corresponded to the signal strength I received from my usb wifi dongle. Maybe I have to reposition my router.
In most cases, the Windows drivers found here are “self-extracting” (.exe) files. Click on the desired file. When prompted, set the destination on your desk. Create a new folder and move the file to it. Click on the file to automatically extract the software and the associated files in your new folder. You can also extract or move these files to a floppy disk. Note that these files will only be self-extracting if they are run from Windows. After extracting the files to a disk or special directory, locate the installer, usually called “setup.exe” or “install.exe”, and then click on it to start the installation.
Sometimes, there is no installer because you have to install your driver through the Windows “Add a device” function. You can find instructions for installing drivers in the Windows Help file. Our Mac OSX files are also self-extracting. These files must be downloaded and executed in the same way. The installer will be present on the desktop once completed: click on it and follow the instructions to install it.
