For the price, this Dell Inspiron 15 computer is an excellent laptop. From what I’ve seen, $ 350 usually gives you a laptop with an Atom or Celeron processor, 2GB of RAM, a horrible screen and low-cost design problems. In this package, you get an i3, 4 GB of RAM, a semi decent screen (with touch screen!), A DVD burner and a durable build quality.
I mainly try to stay with high-end high-end models because I have never had very good experiences with cheap laptops in the past. There has always been something that keeps me away from the trackpad, the wrong screen or the lack of key functions.
That said, they accused me of finding a laptop at a reasonable price for my mother-in-law and I found a sale for the Dell Inspiron 15 3543. I only spent a few days using it while I set it up, but the time was long enough to pass the tests.
First of all, let’s be clear: it is not an ultrabook. It is one inch thick and is as simple as it is compared to other laptops that are manufactured today.
The whole case is made of plastic, but it seems surprisingly well constructed. The upper part has a nice texture, which is good for grabbing but can also be an oil trap and is difficult to clean. The front edges are well rounded so that wrists do not cut when writing. The sides are bright and shiny plastic, which is practically the only feature of this laptop that makes it stand out a bit.
On the back is your typical plastic box with a removable battery and a compartment that allows you to replace the RAM, the Wi-Fi card and the hard drive.
Because of its size, the Inspiron 15 is not too heavy, weighing just over 5 pounds. Since the dimensions are rounded exactly to the nearest inch, I suspect there is a lot of empty space inside the case, but unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to open my back to discover. I guess Dell was trying to reduce costs with this model, not minimization.
The size takes into account things like the removable battery and the optical drive, which is almost invisible on laptops. These two characteristics are some of the reasons why I chose this model over others.
It was relatively easy to take the Inspiron 15 with one hand, but opening it with one hand was a different story. It takes a lot of effort to open the lid and it is certainly an operation with two hands. I suppose you could see the positive side and feel confident that you will never deviate by using it. It is strange that they have made a hinge that requires such force to open, but it still wobbles when you touch the touch screen. I have the impression that this laptop can take some falls, which I can not say for many other laptops. This may be what they were looking for in the user experience.
