The size and layout of the keyboard remain identical to those of the GL703. The key press is 1.8mm to be deeper than most Ultrabooks, where 1.6mm or less is common. The click of the keys is relatively quiet, even if the Space and Enter keys are used, and the return of the main QWERTY keys is satisfactory, even slightly light. In this case, it seems that no major changes have been made to the keyboard despite the generation jump in the design of the chassis. The most disappointing aspect of the keyboard are the arrow keys and the keyboards, as they are physically smaller than the QWERTY sector for a much more sponge return. We hope that future versions give these keys the proper full treatment, such as the Dell Precision 7530. We believe that there is no excuse for being a 17-inch laptop with a larger area available. Key-based RGB lighting is not available, so the same four-zone RGB lighting comes back. According to Asus, tactile lighting would have swelled the profile of the current design, but will be taken into account for future revisions.
The touch panel configured for accuracy is the correct size (~ 10.7 x 5.9 cm) and slightly smaller than that of the GL703 (10.4 x 7.1 cm). The reason for this is that the system now has dedicated mouse keys, while the next generation model has built-in keyboard keys. We could not be happier with this change, since the keys of the touch panel of the GL703 series seemed economical and easy to bear. The new mouse buttons on the GL704 are easier to use and relatively quiet, with little response and a satisfactory click. The surface of the trackpad is completely smooth and offers good sliding properties when moving quickly. If you move very slowly, the finger tends to stick a little. The surface is firm and will deform slightly if you apply medium pressure with your finger. The Core i7-8750H processor and the GTX 1060 GPU come standard without any other option. In contrast, the next-generation GL703 series offered GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti options in addition to the GTX 1060. We would like to see a Core i5-8300H option in the near future for more budget conscious players, as they pair very well with the GTX 1060
