I currently have a Netgear USB wireless adapter that does not work sometimes. It disconnects at any time and asks me to remove the adapter and plug it back in, sometimes several times a day. I have full signal bars that are similar to my old Netgear wireless adapter. I did several quick tests and they were also up to my old wireless adapter. So far everything is fine. I use this new adapter for a week and I have not experienced any disconnection yet. I have been on my computer for more than 8 hours a day and would have disconnected at least several times if I had used the old adapter.
